The Linux Symposium would like to offer special deals members of
Linuxchix and UbuntuWomen, particularly because many female attendees
have lost funding in recent years.

The Linux Symposium (formerly the Ottawa Linux Symposium, but being held
in Montreal this year) is a conference that I often find interesting and
useful in surprising ways. For me, the real benefit has been in meeting
Linux.conf.au Call for Papers is now open!
Members of LinuxChix are invited to submit to LCA2010, to be held in
Wellington New Zealand in January 2010. Several LinuxChix have spoken in
previous years and a one-day LinuxChix miniconf has been held at the
conference since 2007.
It is possible to apply for assistance with flights to New Zealand
(although assistance is limited).

Pia Waugh goes to Canberra
Open source advocate and former Linux Australia president Pia Waugh today revealed she will be leaving her business and joining the staff of Senator Kate Lundy as a policy advisor.
Linux A - Z class in Everett, Washington, USA
This summer Everett Community College will be offering a Linux A - Z class.
It will be held Monday and Wednesday evenings from 5:00pm to 7:30 pm for 8
weeks. It will a great chance for first time users and for those who wish
to increase their skills at the terminal level. It is an accredited class
(5 credits). Class begins June 22, 2009. It is a "hands-on" class, using
Sun's Virtual Machine.
